I've been running Windows 7 for a week and just thought I would share some of the things that I have discovered about it.
Pretty much everyone has commented on the new taskbar and yes, it is really cool. For example, when I use IE [not my favorite], it will show each tab as a new page.

This will show up in the task bar like this:
Tons have been covered about that but there is something else that I have found about the task bar that I thought was really cool. Typically, I really don't like using Explorer but prefer to use PowerDesk but they have added a few features that has got me to start using it again. Quite often, you will go to the same location over and over. By right clicking on the Explorer icon which is by default on the task bar, it will show you a history of the locations that you normally go to. You can always pin one of these to the top to provide easy and quick access to your favorite locations.
One of the things that has been missing from the Explorer since Windows 3.1, is a quick and easy way to get to a drive. Now they have put your drives in the left menu that always allows quick access.
The resource monitor was one of the great improvements in Vista, Windows 7 has taken it just a bit further. Now they have divided the different resources in tabs and placed four graphical displays on the right side.
And lets not forget about the calculator which was long over due for an upgrade.
Mark one more improvement in the task bar: when you are downloading something in IE, you can track the progress of the download by viewing the color change of the IE icon in the task bar:
The start menu for applications that have a recent feature, will list documents that you have opened in the past; handy if you find yourself having to open up a file quickly.
One of the first things that I would normally do in Vista is disable the UAC. I didn't want to see Microsoft warning me every few second for permission to do something. Now you can tune the UAC so that it isn't quite so bothersome. In fact, I actually still have it on.
