One change they have made to SQL 2008 was really bugging me. If you would change a table in the SQL Server Management, you would get an error message:

That is frustrating so I took to searching for a fix.

Click on Tools - Options - and on the Designers node, you will find a check box "Prevent saving changes that require table re-creation"

After that, you should be able to make all of the changes you wish.
